Sultao is a Lusitano gelding that came into my life in 2009. I was told he had been ridden upper level in Brazil at 5 years old. At the time my main horse was a selle francais that was in his late teens, and Donato was just 2 years old. Sultao appeared lame but the vets could find nothing wrong. This was clearly a shoulder lameness (or rein lameness), an imbalance based on many factors.
This video starts with our first session and then 3 years later. I am happy to report Sultao is now a solid school horse for my serious students at 24. One thing I can say, horses like this, that were clearly struggling, are the most grateful. They know the difference, that part makes me sad but the end result is a gift! I know several people reading this are most grateful for him!
