Poll Flexions

Addressing the poll is important for the horse because it is an area that tends to hold tension and repetitive patterns. This work helps us to diagnose the problems, understand the limitations and direct us to the solutions. I will post multiple horses working on this as they are all different and have something to teach us.

This first horse is my Lusitano stallion, he had an incident when he was 4 years old. He reached around to the right and grabbed a strap that was hanging on the surcingle (during break in) and got it caught around his bottom jaw. I was fortunate that I was near a wall, he trusted me and I was able to release him without catastrophic injury. This event however caused his head to be jerked to the right and he had problems with flexing to the left and in the ability move the poll area in general.

This first clip is when he still had serious mobility issues (December 2020), I used this work every day along with longeing, in hand, riding and an amazing Chiropractor.

The Second clip is from Sept 2021 and shows how much the range of motion has improved. I really enjoyed putting this one together!

Poll Flexions Horse #2

THIS WAS A HORSE I HAD MET IN MARYLAND. The tendencies of this horse are similar to all horses, where we spend our time depends on the contraction for each horse. This work is a great diagnostic and therapeutic tool to help us understand where our horses hold tension. More horses to follow.
